Volunteer Chaplains and UPMC Kane Chapel
UPMC Kane recognizes the importance of spiritual needs in patient care and family support. Local pastors and chaplains provide on call care 24/7 for crisis situations, emergency needs, and end-of-life and terminal care situations that may arise in any of our patient care units.
If you wish to talk with a pastor or chaplain, please let our staff know. Our chapel is available 24/7 and is located on the first floor, a few doors from the ICU. You may leave a prayer request in the chapel.
Volunteer chaplains also provide care and services to staff via annual “Blessing of the Hands” and special services throughout the year.
A weekly prayer meeting is held on Monday mornings in our chapel next to our family room located on the first floor.
The Gardens at UPMC Kane
Gardens are located to the right of the emergency room and outpatient entrance to the hospital. Patients and visitors are welcomed to enjoy the serenity and beauty of this space. There are benches, picnic tables, and a gazebo. In 2006, the Gardens were dedicated to those who have committed their lives to the healing arts.

A telephone is provided in each patient room at no additional charge. To make a call to a number outside the hospital, dial 9 then enter the telephone number you wish to dial.

Grateful Patient Program
If you wish to honor an employee or a doctor, you may want to consider a donation through our Grateful Patient Program in honor of an individual or team who went “above and beyond” for you or your loved one. Recognized employees will receive a star pin with a heart in the center and are thanked through our Star Program as a recipient of your recognition. Survey
Your thoughts and opinions are important to us. We are committed to providing great care and service. After your stay at UPMC Kane, you may receive a survey. The survey asks questions to help us determine what we have done well and how we can improve. We hope you will take the time to respond.
Discharge Planning
Some people may need additional help to enable them to leave the hospital once their treatment is complete. Identification of discharge needs begins upon admission in the form of discharge planning. Discharge planning continues throughout the hospital stay as needs are identified and care is planned to meet those needs.
Case Management and Social Services work with you, your family, your physician(s), nurses, and rehab staff to arrange the care needed following your hospital stay including home care, nursing home care, rehabilitative care, other in-patient or out-patient treatment, and other help.
